The International Wood Culture Society (IWCS) is a non-profit, non-governmental international network of wood enthusiasts founded in 2007 dedicated to the research, education, and promotion of global wood culture. Members of IWCS believe wood is a good eco-friendly material that can be sustained through proper forest management. IWCS explores wood culture specifically the human use of wood in our society, as well as the value of wood, wood products and wood-related environments.
IWCS established the World Wood Day Foundation (WWDF) in 2013 after successfully concluding the 2013 WWD in Tanzania. WWDF holds annual World Wood Day celebrations and manages funds and grants to carry out the foundation’s mission. WWDF’s core activity is to organize the annual celebration of World Wood Day (WWD). This celebration raises the public awareness of the value and responsible use of wood and forests, and encourages academic research and education in wood culture
