Postdoctoral Fellow ORISE; USDA Forest Service Rocky Mountain Region, United States
Information is lacking on how planting different populations (i.e., assisted population migration) of ponderosa pine and Douglas-fir in the interior western US will impact reforestation success. We outline a seedlot selection strategy for reforestation that forest managers can use to help fill this knowledge gap.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participants will be able to explain how local climate influences adaptation traits of trees.
Upon completion, participants will be able to articulate the importance of selecting seedlots for reforestation intentionally.
