Artificial regeneration by planting presents an opportunity to maintain ponderosa pine forests; however, early seedling survival needs to be improved. In this study, we are assessing impacts of different combinations of nucleation size and planting density on the survival and performance of ponderosa pine seedlings on a post-fire site.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participant will be able to describe the use of nucleation planting as a strategy to improve the survival of planted seedlings in reforestation projects.
Upon completion, participant will be able to demonstrate the importance of using shelters for protection against animal browsing in reforestation projects.
