Little is known about the extent of agroforestry in the U.S. Understanding extent is important as there is growing interest in agroforestry as a climate-smart agriculture solution. The U.S. Census of Agriculture provides the only source of consistent, national reporting on agroforestry and this poster explores those numbers and trends.
Learning Objectives:
Show where agroforestry has been implemented in the U.S. based on the Census of Agriculture, identify "hot spots" of agroforestry implementation, and recognize trends of increase and decrease of agroforestry adoption between 2017 and 2022.
Understand why this data is important and how it can be used to help expand agroforestry adoption as well as recognize need to identify potential drivers of agroforestry adoption and change over the time period.
