Invasive species are among the leading threats to forest health and sustainability, and increasingly, active management is required to address this threat. This session features examples of research across taxa that informs and quantifies management of invasive species for various objectives, from restoring forest ecosystems to increasing resilience.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion, participants will be able to explain how invasive species impede forest management objectives and why it is critical to address invasive species using active management.
Participants will also be able to identify commonalities and differences between how various invasive species – including insects, diseases, and plants – impact forest ecosystems and what strategies are being used to manage those species.
Finally, participants will gain insight into how active management of different invasive species and in different forest ecosystems can be used to achieve diverse objectives, from promoting restoration to increasing resilience.
