The four Adaptive Silviculture for Climate Change (ASCC) installations in the Rocky Mountains provide examples of diverse silvicultural approaches to guiding change in stand composition, structure, and age class structure. Drawing on these sites, we illustrate varied approaches for adjusting to projected environmental change over short and long timeframes.
Learning Objectives:
Understand how intentionally guiding changes in stand composition, age class structure and physical structure can help adapt stands to projected environmental change.
Understand the application of various silvicultural tools for guiding change.
Identify ways in which the four Rocky Mountain Adaptive Silviculture for Climate Change installations model the process of guiding change.
