By the Book: Private forest policies at the state level, and how landowners view them

We discuss research results that explore the political contexts of state-level policies impacting private forest landowners in twelve states. We then focus on how landowners in the most highly regulated state in the U.S. (California) navigate and perceive the system as they pursue active management of forests.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion, participant will be able to understand the diversity of policy tools (from regulatory to incentive-based to market-based) used by states in the U.S. to ensure sustainability on private forest lands.
Upon completion, participant will be able to understand the political context of many forest policy tools used by states in the U.S.
Upon completion, participant will be able to understand how landowners view forest policies in California, a highly-regulated state.
