Forest management plays a critical role in carbon storage, sequestration, and emissions on both the landscape and within harvested wood products.  Research was conducted to evaluate alternative silvicultural scenarios on the carbon life cycle within Minnesota, with implications discussed for future policy and management.

Learning Objectives:

  • Upon completion, participants will be able to differentiate between the influence of landscape level forest management and harvested wood products on the forest sector carbon cycle.
  • Upon completion, participants will be able to synthesize the implications of forest management and the associated harvested wood products on future forest carbon expectations and corresponding management and policies decisions.
  • Upon completion, participants will be able to observe statewide efforts to determine optimal forest carbon management while balancing ecological, wildlife, and economic benefits.
