Maple Dieback/Decline is a complicated but well researched forest health issue. Utilizing available GIS climate and soils layers provide a wealth of new variables to consider, creating many opportunities and conciderations for future research.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participants will be able to understand the difficulties in using mapped landscape-level data and measured plot-level data to inform on the potential for northern hardwood forests to experience adverse health conditions.
Upon completion, participant will be able to understand the mismatch of scales between data sources, and when different scales are appropriate and what considerations can be dealt with to correctly utilize data.
Upon completion, participant will be able to describe potential opportunities to utilize GIS based data sources in their research and practice.
