Drones provide the flexibility and ability to collect data at the time and place of the pilot. Drones capture images of forest pests in all parts of the host providing a record that can be reviewed and stored for comparison and immediate measurement of impact.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participants will have an understanding of the use of drones in pest management measurements; be able to develop hands-on activities to include drones in their professional experience:; and be able to understand current policies and procedures using drones.Upon
Upon completion, participants will be able to conduct and define use of drones in pest management. By examining images from drones, professionals can gain experience in impact measurement and building a portfolio of pests and their damage. The rapid development of better drone cameras and sensors is expanding the usefulness of drones.
Upon completion, participants will develop a further understanding of Citizen Science and capture images for iNaturalist and other shared data bases.
