This study investigates the relationships that exist amongst fire intensity, cause, and severity, climate, timber harvest, and overall forest health across New Mexico using publicly available data from the New Mexico State Land Office, ranging from 1980-2016.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this study, participants will have a deeper understanding of influence of climate change and timber harvest on wildland fire frequency and intensity in the American southwest.
Upon completion of this study, participants will be more aware of the occurrence and extent of wildfires between 1980 through 2016 in New Mexico.
