Results show that in addition to the state-level income, the region and the political party of the state's governor influence enrollment in forest carbon programs in the U.S. Therefore beyond economic incentives, effective forest carbon policies need to consider spatial and political factors to increase participation in forest carbon programs.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participants will be able to identify and describe the economic, political, and environmental factors influencing enrollment in forest carbon programs in the U.S., based on empirical evidence from panel data analysis.
Upon completion, participants will be able to recognize the importance of integrating spatial and political considerations into the design and implementation of forest carbon policies, and articulate implications for increasing participation in forest carbon programs.
