Student (M.S) University of Minnesota Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States
The Adaptive Silviculture for Climate Change (ASCC) project aims to use silvicultural techniques to deal with a changing climate. Our study, the first urban affiliate site of the ASCC project, aims to determine how to best manage for the added stress climate change will have on floodplain forests.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participant will be able to differentiate silvicultural treatments of the Adaptive Silviculture for Climate Change project and how those are being applied in this unique setting.
Upon completion, participant will be able to communicate ecosystem services provided by floodplain forests in an urban setting.
Upon completion, participant will be able to visualize how riparian species planted from different USDA zones are surviving in Minnesota’s unique (and changing) climate after the 4th year of the project at this site.
