In this research project, we examine how the availability of and access to forested areas in urban settings affects residents’ quality of life. We focus on 12 neighborhoods in Des Moines, Iowa, and investigate how the presence of urban forests may influence social cohesion, place attachment, and sense of belonging.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participants can identify how access to and availability of forested areas and other greens spaces may influence quality of life for urban residents.
Upon completion, participants will be able to describe methods for assessing availability of and access to urban green spaces for nearby residents.
Upon completion, participants will be able to describe the relationship between availability of urban green spaces and human quality of life.
