Forest Ecologist Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District Los Altos, California, United States
This project aims to complete ecologically sensitive vegetation management on a former Christmas tree farm, effectively reducing fuel loads and improving wildland fire and climate resiliency, restoring sensitive native vegetation communities, and augmenting biodiverse habitat conditions for native wildlife across public land in the Santa Cruz Mountains.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participant will be able to articulate some of the operational complexities underlying active management for ecological restoration and fuel reduction goals in a fire-prone California ecosystem.
Upon completion, participant will be able to describe pathogen and special status species avoidance measures required to implement restoration forestry in the Santa Cruz Mountain region.
