From the 1940s, until management was halted in the 1960s, the long-term impacts of various management practices on forest composition and structure were studied in Kaskaskia Experimental Forest. An updated inventory in 2023 reveals changes in the forest’s makeup. The ongoing research aids forest management, particularly in addressing climate change.
