Research Associate Colorado Forest Restoration Institute, Colorado State University, United States
After two decades of community wildfire protection plans (CWPPs), we take stock of CWPPs in Colorado and assess how these plans have addressed risk and collaboration. We discuss our findings in relation to evolving perceptions of risk and collaborative governance to understand how CWPPs are supporting communities and forest management.
Learning Objectives:
Develop a better understanding of the historical and current state of CWPPs in Colorado
Discuss how trends observed in CWPP mitigation actions and participation compare with evolving perceptions of wildfire risk and collaborative governance
Identify the strengths of these planning tools to support the needs of communities for wildfire mitigation and opportunities for improvement
