Microclimate differences at small scales can influence growth and decomposition within forest stands, which, in turn, have important effects on carbon storage. A better understanding of small-scale microclimate patterns in managed forests is increasingly important as we strive to increase forest carbon storage in an era of climate change.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participant will be able to understand small-scale microclimate fluctuations in managed forests.
Upon completion, particpant will be able to identify how subtle changes in forest canopy structure can influence carbon storage.
Upon completion, participant will be able to understand the potential for incorporating carbon storage into harvest planning and other silvicultural practices.
