The purpose of this proposal is to provide information on longleaf pine (Pinus palustris) plantation productivity estimates in the Southeast United States. This will promote restoration efforts by providing information to help guide future investment and adoption of longleaf pine in plantations by landowners.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participant will acquire an increased understanding of planted longleaf pine stand level growth and yield in association with soil characteristics and various management activities and articulate its importance to longleaf pine restoration efforts.
Upon completion, participant will be able to identify the competitiveness of longleaf pine in comparison to other Southeastern United States pine species such as loblolly pine and slash pine, thus promoting the planting longleaf pine by landowners and encouraging restoration efforts.
Upon completion, participant will understand aspects important to accurately predicting longleaf pine productivity accross the southeast.
