Measurements via sampling are used in almost all aspects of silviculture, from management and harvesting to research. Laser scanning techniques using LiDAR allows fast, accurate, digital data capture combined with collaborative, office-based analysis software, for a range of uses from standard volumetrics to proving allometric models. Mobile scanners avoid occlusions, whilst static scanners create accurate high resolution digital twins.
