René received his BS in Forestry from the University of Vermont in 1983, MBA from Boston University in 1988. He worked for a decade as a forester with the forest products industry before returning to school to complete a Ph.D. in Forest Resources Management at ESF in 1997. He has been at ESF for 25 years.
