Ricky Satomi is an Extension Forester for Sutter, Yuba, Nevada, and Butte Counties, and a California Registered Professional Forester. His research explores the intersection of forest ecology and management to improve forest resilience to disturbance. His education and outreach program focuses on new forest technologies, wood products, workforce training, community hardening, and reforestation planning to support cost-effective landowner management. Ricky is a co-founder of the California Forestry Mentorship Program and Director of the Forestry Institute for Teachers educator training program.
