Research Fellow
Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE), North Carolina, United States
Jaana Korhonen, Phd, ORISE Research Fellow at USDA Forest Service Southern Research Station. I am part of the Forest Economics and Policy unit.
I am transatlantic interdisciplinary forest economist, which means that I have studied and conducted most of my research in the European forest-based bioeconomy context before moving to the US a couple of years ago. My previous work focused on understanding how sustainability is perceived and how it shapes forest sector markets, innovativeness and wood use. In the USA, I have been researching the spatial and temporal arrangements of timber markets, and currently leading work on employment impacts the hazardous fuel wood reductions. This work is a part of a larger project on understanding the market impacts of such treatments.
