Vaine Onyango is a graduate student of Forestry and Natural Resources Sciences majoring in Forest Economics and Policy at the University of Kentucky. Her masters thesis research focuses on the economic impact analysis of hardwood cross-laminated timber (CLT) in construction using computable general equilibrium (CGE) model, aiming to demonstrate CLT's environmental and economic benefits as a viable alternative to traditional materials. She is dedicated to advancing sustainable development through her research. With previous experience as an emissions reduction (ER) calculation officer in a carbon project, she has a good understanding of carbon markets and climate change mitigation strategies. Beyond her academic pursuits, she is a dedicated advocate for sustainable practices and a lover of the outdoors. Her passion for hiking and exploring natural landscapes fuels her commitment to preserving and protecting our planet's resources. She has a profound foundation in environmental economic modeling, policy analysis, and carbon project management. Vaine is actively seeking PhD opportunities to continue her research and contribute to a more sustainable future.
