Jared was born and raised in the Flint Hills of Kansas, where he currently resides. He serves as the National Wild Turkey Federation’s Director of Conservation Operations for the Central Region, overseeing 14 states and leading a team of biologists & foresters across the Great Plains and upper Midwest. The NWTF is a grassroots conservation organization dedicated to the conservation of the wild turkey and the preservation of our hunting heritage with a vision of “A nation united by the life-changing power of the outdoors.” The NWTF operates at the landscape level to enhance wildlife habitat, water resources, recreation opportunities and community resilience while working with partners to identify and fund collaborative solutions to complex issues. Jared oversees regional conservation delivery and policy efforts, ensuring the NWTF’s work is accomplished through dynamic partnerships with state and federal agencies, partners & NWTF volunteers.
Jared has 24+ years of conservation experience, with a focus on finding solutions to complex land management challenges through building and stewarding diverse partnerships. He received a B.S. in Zoology and an M.S. in Environmental Biology, with a wildlife emphasis, from Emporia State University. His Master’s research focused on wild turkey populations in Eastern Kansas, along with an investigation of their internal parasites. He is a graduate of the National Conservation Leadership Institute and his professional experience also includes private lands conservation delivery for the Nebraska Game & Parks Commission and the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks. He has led NWTF efforts to build landscape-scale initiatives, such as the NWTF’s Waterways for Wildlife initiative focused on riparian restoration. He enjoys spending time with his wife Angie of 25 years and his two daughters, Keeley & Finley. His free time is spent pursuing a wide variety of wildlife with a bow or in various ministries sharing his faith.
