Susan currently serves as an Associate Extension Specialist and the Director of Accountability, Evaluation, and Assessment for Clemson University – College of Agriculture, Forestry, and Life Sciences (CAFLS). She earned a Master of Forest Resources in 1996 and a PhD in 2015 in Wildlife and Fisheries Biology from Clemson University. She served as the Continuing Education Coordinator for the Clemson University Department of Forestry and Environmental Conservation for almost 15 years before moving into administration as the program evaluation specialist for Extension. Recently, she moved into CAFLS where she continues to serve as the evaluation specialist college wide. She also serves as a specialist in forest wildlife management. She taught a PhD course, Wildlife Ecology in Managed Forests, and co-taught a senior/graduate course, Quality Deer Management, both in the Department of Forestry and Environmental Conservation.
Susan has been a member of SAF since 1995, dating back to when she was a student. She has served in several roles such as the Science and Technology Chair for APSAF, the SC SAF Division Chair, and Chair of APSAF. She is a Certified Forester through the Society of American Foresters, a SC Tree Farm Inspector, SC Hunter Education Instructor, holds Deer Steward Level I and Level 2 certifications through the National Deer Association, and is a 4-H certified shotgun, rifle, and archery instructor.
