Sarita Bassil, PhD is a postdoctoral fellow in the Forest Growth and Yield Lab at the University of Alberta since 2023. Sarita completed her Ph.D. in natural resources management with concentration in silviculture from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY-ESF) in 2018, and her M.Sc. in agriculture engineering from the Lebanese University in 2011. She worked as a research support specialist at SUNY-ESF after graduation until 2019, then she moved to Guatemala and joined the University of the Valley of Guatemala (UVG) between 2020 and 2022 as lecturer at the Department of Agroforestry. Her current research at the G&Y Lab is focused on quantitative silviculture and the assessment of responses to mountain pine beetle disturbance in lodgepole pine dominated forests of Western Canada.
