Research Coordinator
Plantation Management Research Cooperative (PMRC) - University of Georgia
Athens, Georgia, United States
Currently, I serve as the coordinator for a diverse portfolio of field-based studies at the University of Georgia in the Plantation Management and Research Cooperative (PMRC). In this role, I oversee research across an extensive operating region, including the Atlantic Coast Flatwoods, Coastal Plain, Piedmont, South Atlantic Gulf Slope, and West Gulf regions. This encompasses areas in the Carolinas, Georgia, Northern Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, Louisiana, and East Texas.
In Brazil, my primary focus was on optimizing productivity and stability through applied knowledge in Ecophysiology, Hydrology, and Native and Planted Forest Management. I successfully developed indicators for identifying optimal planting areas, emphasizing the goal of maximizing productivity while minimizing environmental impact, considering Brazilian soil and climate specificities.
Actively participating in committees, I am looking forward to contributing to the development and review of methodologies for quantifying carbon in biomass, growth, and yield systems for plantation ecosystems. This active involvement highlights my enthusiasm for advancing sustainable practices and deepening our understanding of forest productivity, both within the Brazilian context and on an international scale.
