Brenda Bowen, Account Manager for FSVeg Spatial and FSVeg Spatial Data Analyzer; USDA Forest Service, Washington Office, Natural Resources, Vegetation Ecology Staff
Brenda started her career with the Forest Service on the Black Hills National Forest in 1999 and worked as a seasonal employee in various Silviculture and GIS related positions, before becoming a permanent GIS and Database Coordinator on the Northern Hills Ranger District. In 2012, Brenda accepted a promotion and became the Account Manager for two ArcGIS-based vegetation applications that are developed and maintained by the Forest Service. These applications support data management and provide analysis tools for forest planning and landscape-scale analysis projects.
In additon to her role in supporting data management and analysis across the Forest Service, Brenda is the lead Public Information Officer on Rocky Mountain Complex Incident Management Team 1 and has supported incident response nationally and internationally.
Brenda has a Bachelor of Science in Resource Recreation and Tourism from the University of Idaho and after college spent some time as an Interpreter/ Park Ranger at Mount St Helens and Devils Tower National Monument. Brenda grew up in Idaho, farmed and ranched for 20 years in western South Dakota, and now resides in Colorado.
