William “Will” Tomlinson is a Biological Science Technician with the wetlands team at the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC). He is primarily responsible for data collection, analysis, field protocols and manages equipment within the team.
Before assuming his role as a Biological Science Technician, Will was a Research Assistant government contractor with Bowhead Total Enterprise Solutions from August 2021 to September 2021. In this position, he worked with researchers on prolonged inundation effects on oak seedlings within the Mississippi Delta and wild rice research in Michigan’s upper peninsula.
Before signing on as a government contractor, Will was an Infantryman with the United States Army from March 2017 to July 2020. In this role, he served as a fire team leader, squad leader, and weapons team leader, where he oversaw training and ensured the safety and welfare of a four-person team, maintaining a 100% safety record.
Before federal service, Will co-owned a forestry and wildlife consulting company, Sustainable Resource Managers, LLC. He served as a professional forester/associate wildlife biologist with over ten years of experience there. He has extensive experience with forest management plans, forest management for wildlife populations, evaluating flora and fauna populations within diverse ecosystems, analyzing data performed for wildlife and fish population management, and analyzing forest biometrics.
Will is a native of Vicksburg, MS, and resides in Brandon, MS, with his wife and three children. Will enjoys hunting, the outdoors, spending time with family and riding motorcycles.
