Richard Bergman, PhD, CC-P, Supervisory Research Wood Scientist, USDA Forest Service Forest Products Laboratory
Dr. Richard Bergman's major research objectives include: 1) developing life-cycle assessments (LCAs) and conducting comparative LCAs for product, building, and energy systems, 2) investigating GHG mitigation strategies using wood in buildings along with forest management practices and end-of-life options, 3) dynamic carbon inventory of the life cycle of wood products in conjunction with working forests, 4) conducting system and scale-up analyses using artificial intelligence-based data analytics, and 5) assessing plant biomass properties for their handling and conversion performances using machine learning.
