I am Kavi Raj Awasthi, a forestry graduate student in the Department of Forestry and Environmental Conservation at Clemson University. I completed my undergraduate degree in forest science from Nepal. During my master's degree, I used satellite imageries and UAV lidar to detect Callery Pear and estimate its aboveground biomass. My interest lies in understanding the carbon dynamics of different forests through remote sensing and LiDAR. In particular, I want to know 1) how severe climate and other disturbances impact carbon sequestration potential in multiple forest types over a long period and 2) Whether changes in forest structure and carbon sequestration capacities shift forest resilience.
