Matthew Mrizek is the Staff Forester for Dixon Memorial State Forest with the Georgia Forestry Commission. He is responsible for the sustainable management of the state forest by developing and implementing a long-term multiple-use management plan which includes the supervision and planning of timber harvests, reforestation, fuel mitigation, road maintenance, and invasive species management. He has served in this role since 2022. Previously he was a Water Quality Forester Specialist and Management Forester with the Georgia Forestry Commission. He is a Georgia Registered Forester and earned his BS in Forest Resources from the University of Georgia Warnell School of Forestry & Natural Resources. In his spare time, he enjoys pretending to be a botanist.
