Roy Mita, Account Manager for FSVeg; USDA Forest Service, Washington Office, Natural Resources, Vegetation Ecology Staff.
Roy has experience on Ranger Districts in Montana and Minnesota, successively working with stand exams, reforestation, sale prep, NEPA analysis, recreation, roads, ecology, and timber, before becoming an operations research analyst with the Forest Management Service Center. In 1998, Roy joined the FSVeg team; this is the application that enables the collection, storage, and analysis of the nation’s Common Stand Exam and other plot-based forest vegetation surveys in support of NEPA analysis. For most of his career, he was also involved in wildland firefighting, preferentially in fireline operations. Most recently, he was part of the team that developed the Exams Mobile application for Android tablets that will supplant the soon-to-be-deprecated PDR-based data collection system.
Roy has a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Biology from Stanford University as well as a Bachelor of Science in Forest Management from Humboldt State University. He grew up in Los Angeles, California and now lives in Fort Collins, Colorado.
