Ellie James, Masters student – Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, IL USA; B.S. Forestry, B.S. Geography and Environmental Resources, 2023 – Southern Illinois University. She is co-advised by Dr. Brent S. Pease Ph.D., and Dr. Eric Holzmueller Ph.D. Her current research is focused on using LiDAR to detect invasive shrubs within the understory of deciduous forests within Southern Illinois. Aside from being a full-time student, Ellie is also the Southern Illinois Field Representative for the Friends of Illinois Nature Preserves, providing assistance to the Illinois Nature Preserve Commission and Illinois DNR for volunteer-based restoration and protection of protected natural areas within Illinois. Special interests include restoration ecology, conservation, invasive species, and GIS.
