The National Interagency Prescribed Fire Training Center (NIPFTC) was established in 1998 to provide hands-on prescribed fire experience to federal firefighters from across the country. NIPFTC is recognized as a national leader in all aspects of prescribed fire and fuels management training. NIPFTC, with its supporting partners, provides opportunities for employees of federal, state, local agencies, along with tribal partners and others, to become highly skilled prescribed fire practitioners. NIPFTC emphasizes learning from practical experience by participating in field operations and by observing and working with successful prescribed fire programs. NIPFTC is a leader in developing and utilizing new technologies in prescribed fire training, and the model of a learning prescribed fire culture.
