We often refer to forestry as both an art and a science. We can cite the science involved but can we do the same for the 'art' of forest management? What are we currently missing from this skill set, and how should we be better prepared for the years ahead?
Learning Objectives:
Better understand the complexity of social expectations in forest management, while using a systems perspective to analyze conflicts.
Begin to assess their own skill set relative to the 'art' of forest management, from the perspective of the social sciences.
Reconcile that conflict is a part of forest management and that new skills and approaches may be needed to be more successful.
