Katie Nicolato is the owner of Violet Green, an ecology, education and creative company providing global services based in Oregon. She has worked in geospatial and environmental sciences for 16 years as a researcher, educator and creator and received $27,500 in personal awards for her leadership in field operations and teaching. Her experience includes positions in forestry, remote sensing, wildlife and ecological science and education with the US Forest Service, National Park Service, US Fish and Wildlife Service, Alaska Department of Fish and Game, University of Alaska, University of Montana, Oregon State University, Sierra Club, Alliance for Community Trees and New York Wolf Conservation Center. Katie develops the Precision Forestry, UAS LiDAR and GNSS Surveying programs for the Davey Resource Group Drone Services Team and created the online UAS pilot training program. She is an MS candidate in the Aerial Information Systems Lab at the Oregon State University College of Forestry where she received the Dean's Award for Outstanding Achievement. She holds a BS in Environmental Science and Policy and a minor in GIS from the University of Maryland Geography Department.
