Research Summary
Dr. Liston’s professional focus has been process-studies and modeling of snow and ice found around the world. He is the author of the SnowModel data-model fusion system. He has over 200 refereed journal publications on snow- and ice-related topics. In addition, he has considerable experience in cold-regions field research, leading and participating in over 40 snow and glaciological research expeditions around the world. Over the last 42 years Dr. Liston has spent over 76.5 months (6.4 years) in the field. He received a United States Congressional Service Medal for his Antarctic work, and on 18 October 2011, the “Liston Glacier” in the Dry Valleys of Antarctica was named for him by the U.S. Board on Geographic Names.
