Andrew Nelson received his PhD in 2013 from the University of Maine and his M.S. from the University of Maine, both in Forest Resources with an emphasis in silviculture. He received his B.S. in Conservation and Resource Studies with a minor in forestry from the University of California at Berkeley in 2005. He is currently the Tom A. Alberg and Judith Beck Endowed Chair of Native Plant Regeneration at the University of Idaho. In this role he also serves as the Director of the Center for Forest Nurseries and Seedling Research and Franklin H. Pitkin Forest Nursery. He conducts research on nursery seedling quality and early stand silviculture to improve reforestation success.
