Forest Inventory Program Coordinator
Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Minnesota, United States
Keb Guralski has more than 15 years of experience in forestry and GIS, and is currently the Forest Inventory Coordinator for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Division of Forestry. He was born in Wisconsin and grew up in the Green Bay area, developing a natural appreciation for the Green Bay Packers. He attended the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point and received a Bachelor's degree in Forest Management before heading west to Colorado to begin his career. It was during this time that Keb developed an interest in forest inventory and GIS, receiving an award from the Colorado State Forest Service for his work developing a State Trust Lands Management Plan using emerging technologies, and assisting colleagues as they adapted to the change those technologies bring. He has since held the position of Senior Forester for the Wisconsin Board of Commissioners of Public Lands, managing complex Northern Hardwood forest and gaining valuable experience in the Great Lakes Region. Prior to leading the Inventory program in Minnesota, Keb also served as the Inventory Forester and GIS Specialist for the largest County Forest in Wisconsin, located in Douglas County. From the start of his career Keb has had the goal of serving as a conduit to connect land managers and specialists to meet complex forestry objectives. His diverse background has allowed him the opportunity to see the field of forestry from a unique perspective and assist others from both a technical and logistical standpoint. Keb has a wonderful wife and three kids to keep him busy at his current home in Duluth, MN. Despite spending less time in the woods than he once did, he still enjoys his time outside hunting, fishing, camping and recreating, and you may also find him enjoying a Bluegrass concert or two when he can find time.
