Maggie leads R&D for sustainable energy transitions at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, including how utilization of woody biomass to achieve net-zero goals can improve resiliency of landscapes. With expertise in biomass markets, she leads a project on natural capital financing, is the lead author of the forestry analysis for the 2023 Billion-Ton Report (BT23), led the agricultural residues and dedicated energy crop analysis in the 2016 Billion-Ton Report and manages the data repository for these reports. Maggie, who has an academic background in geography, economics, forestry and systems engineering aims to provide better integration of data and tools in support of decision-making on agricultural and forestry land management.
