Northern Arizona University
Flagstaff, Arizona, United States
Tyler W. Gardner is a graduate research assistant at Northern Arizona University’s School of Forestry, pursuing a Master of Science in Forestry. His research focuses on forest resilience, particularly in response to disturbances such as insect outbreaks. Currently, Tyler is working on a project investigating how silvicultural treatments influence the resilience of ponderosa pine to bark beetle attacks. His research involves a combination of fieldwork, data analysis, and scientific reporting, contributing to improved forest health and management strategies.
Tyler has previously worked with organizations such as the Arizona Game and Fish Department and the U.S. Geological Survey, where he focused on conservation efforts involving threatened and endangered fish species, as well as aquatic invertebrates. With extensive experience in both research and field operations, he has led field crews across the Southwest, managing data collection and ecological restoration in challenging environments. Driven by a passion for environmental conservation, Tyler is committed to advancing our understanding of forest ecosystems and promoting their long-term sustainability.
