Ashlyn Olah is a Master of Forestry (M.F.) student at UC Berkeley. She grew up in the rural town of Chester, CA, located in the northern Sierra Nevada, before obtaining her B.S. from UC Berkeley in 2023. The 2021 Dixie Fire is what inspired her to pursue a career in forestry after nearly losing her parent's house and seeing the aftermath of Greenville, CA. She is conducting research at the intersection of fire ecology, silviculture, and geospatial technology. Specifically, Ashlyn is interested in developing technology utilizing mobile LiDAR to find methods of identifying giant sequoia vulnerable to wildfire. In the future, she wants to continue to research topics at the interesection of fire, silviculture, and geospatial technology.
