Student
Cal Poly Humboldt, United States
I am a second baccalaureate student studying Forestry with an emphasis in Restoration at Cal Poly Humboldt. After getting my first degree in physics and working for a number of years in various scientific support roles, I realized that I wanted to find a career path that was more immediately in line with my values and love of the natural world. While a student at CPH I was able to work on independent research into pseudo-serotiny (which I am presenting here) that was supported with a fellowship from the CA State University Agricultural Research Institute, as well as working as a research assistant to a Masters Student studying wildland fire ignition. This past summer I was employed as a tech by Forest Resource Solutions & Technology, a consulting firm in the Sierra foothills, where I gained valuable field skills. I look forward to becoming a Registered Professional Forester in CA where I hope to work in a variety of landscapes to help build resilience into our forest ecosystems so they can continue to thrive and provide the ecosystem services, economic opportunities, and aesthetic values I have always loved.
