Ed Zimmer serves as the Deputy State Forester with the Virginia Department of Forestry. Following a brief one-week stint manually weeding the loblolly seedling beds at the Maryland state tree nursery, he earned his Bachelors degree in Forest Resources Management from West Virginia University. During his 14 years in forestry industry he served a variety of roles from managing company forestland for Union Camp Corporation to serving as the Purchasing Manager for the company's particleboard facilities. Since 2004 he has been with the Virginia Department of Forestry, first as a Regional Forester, then Chief of Operations, and now as Deputy State Forester.
