To enhance the pace and scale of forest restoration treatments in the Southwest, while achieving ecological objectives, alternative and innovative approaches to implementation are needed.

Learning Objectives:

Understand the challenges of implementing forest restoration efforts in the Southwest at a pace and scale that meets the need of increasingly uncharacteristic wildfires.
Describe various treatments being implemented in southwestern ponderosa pine forests to meet multiple objectives, as well as the methods of timber designation being utilized to try to increase efficiency and improve ecological outcomes of restoration efforts.
