Graduate Student Southern Illinois University - Carbondale Carbondale, Illinois, United States
We are attempting to use LiDAR as a methodology in detecting invasive shrub species within Jackson County, Illinois. Field work will begin this upcoming field season, May to August 2024, to validate the accuracy of using LiDAR-derived forest metrics in the RandomForest package in R for species detection.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completetion, participants will be able to determine if LiDAR is an effective tool in detecting understory invasive shrubs.
Upon completion, participants will be able to identify future uses for LiDAR in forest inventory data collection.
Upon completion, participants will be able to identify in any limitations for using LiDAR for detecting understory invasive shrubs for forest management practices.
